The East Syracuse-based convenience store and gas station company, Fastrac, has proposed opening two new stores in Queensbury at 773 Quaker Road and 216 Corinth Road. The Quaker Road store would be built on the 7-acre lot currently occupied by Binley Florist.
Fastrac plans to operate both stores 24/7 and offers freshly prepared food in their cafes. Menu items include made-to-order pizza, sandwiches, and breakfast. Customers can also order food online and at drive-throughs.
Construction on the stores cannot begin until the planning board process is complete, and this includes opportunity for public comment.
Fastrac operates around 50 stores in New York state. The new sites in Queensbury would bring the total number of Fastrac stores in the Capital Region up to three, including the store in Amsterdam.
The proposed Quaker Road location would join a Speedway Gas and Stewart’s Shops at the corner of Quaker and Dix. The other proposed store would be on a 2-acre lot at the northeast corner of Big Bay Road and Corinth Road on the west side of the Northway at Exit 18. The immediate area currently features a McDonald’s, a Taco Bell, Stewart’s, and several gas stations.
Binley Florist has been planning to move from the Quaker Road location since last year, reports the Post Star. Binley’s owner Wally Hirsch indicated that closing on the sale of the property is set for August.
