During the Adirondack Thunder’s hockey season, the Glens Falls Civic Center becomes known as the “Thunderdome.” However, this weekend, the “Thunderdome” will transform into a top-notch basketball court and host the NYS Federation Tournament of Champions!

Since it began in 1978, New York State’s Federation tournament has featured championship-level high school basketball teams competing to find out who really is the best in each class. Since then, the classes have changed and the tournament has grown to include both boys and girls state championships.
The Federation tournament first came to the Glens Falls Civic Center back in 1995. In recent years, it has been held at the Times Union Center in Albany, so this weekend will be the grand return of the tournament here in Glens Falls.
The 2017 Tournament will feature boys and girls basketball brackets and three state classes: Class AA, Class A, and Class B. According to the Post-Star, the champions of four state organizations will compete in each class.
Most of the high school teams are from the New York City region, and this year’s tournament will include some returning champions. Staten Island Academy will defend their championship in the Girls Class A, and Albany Academy will defend their championship in the Boys Class A.
Tournament games will be held at the Glens Falls Civic Center on March 24-26. The finals will take place on both March 25 & 26.
Don’t miss the return of the Federation basketball tournament in Glens Falls!
