When the state announced earlier this month that ride sharing companies like Uber and Lyft will finally be allowed to operate Upstate, some of us in the Glens Falls region were cautiously excited, but still wondering whether ride sharing would make it north of Saratoga.
Wonder no more: the Post Star has confirmed that Uber has registered drivers in Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties!*

A recent ad in the Post Star calling for drivers to sign up to drive for Uber put to rest our fears that the ride sharing companies might not try to break into the North Country market!
Since the ride sharing services operate on a supply and demand model that determines pricing, wait times, availability, etc, we will have to wait and see if the region can actually support the ride sharing companies. Too few people offering rides or too few people requesting and paying for rides might still end up being an issue for the companies as they attempt to bring ride sharing out of the city and into Upstate.
For now, however, it looks like Uber at least is pretty confident the residents of the greater Glens Falls region are eager to check out this affordable transportation option.
