Want to experience Glens Falls’ rich arts scene and support a great cause? Head over to the Saunders Gallery of Fine Art at bjsartworks on Saturday, October 14, for a benefit reception that will highlight the ongoing 10th Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Project.
The Domestic Violence Awareness Project
For 10 years now, the Saunders Gallery of Fine Art at bjsartworks has hosted the Domestic Violence Awareness Project. This is an annual art exhibition that aims to educate about the devastation domestic violence brings to families and the community.
This year, the theme and name of the project is “Say No to Violence.” The exhibition at the gallery features multi-media assemblages and sculptures that were created specifically for victims and families. These artworks highlight the signs of domestic violence and teach how a tragedy can be prevented.
Members of the public can check out the exhibition from October 2-31, 2017.
A Benefit Reception
On Saturday, October 14, the Saunders Gallery of Fine Art at bjsartworks will host a benefit reception to raise funds for the Catholic Charities Domestic Violence Project of Glens Falls.
The reception will be held in partnership with Zonta of Glens Falls. During the event, over 40 custom bracelets that have been designed for the cause by friends of Zonta will be available for purchase for $10 each.
In addition, for each $10 donation, you will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a custom original painting (valued at $250) of your choice by gallery owner/artist Bev Saunders.
A donation jar will also be set up in the gallery, and several other Shirt Factory retailers will be participating in the fundraiser too. Message bands and purple ribbon pins will be distributed when donations are received.
Join the community at this Saturday afternoon reception from 3:00pm-5:00pm for door prizes, refreshments, and more!
