The organization behind Baskets for Ben, a fundraising event that takes place at The Queensbury Hotel each May, has been able to give so much back to the community that supports this nonprofit. Here’s what they’ve accomplished thus far:
Carrying Forth Ben Osborn’s Legacy
The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund was created in memory of CPL Benjamin D. Osborn of Queensbury. Ben gave his life during combat operations in Afghanistan in June of 2010, and the fund was established to carry forth his legacy of discipline, pride, and selfless sacrifice.
Since 2010, Ben’s fund has helped over 10,000 children in need in 50 schools in Warren, Washington, Saratoga, and Essex Counties. They provide the kids with newly purchased goods and services like clothing, bedding, food, tutoring, electronics, eyeglasses, field trip admission expenses, and more. They also donate to 12 local food pantries in addition to providing other services.
Accomplishments Made Possible By the Local Community

The fund hasn’t just helped kids through the Baskets for Ben event. Over $15,000 worth of food and gifts was donated during the 2018 holiday season to local kids and families in need!
The Ben Osborn Memorial Fund also administers a literacy program by providing books to kids any time and all the time, through 20 local Ben’s Book Stations. Additionally, they’ve provided 1,000 17-item personal hygiene kits to emerging teens, and the list goes on!
In a recent statement, the entire Ben Osborn Memorial Fund expressed their thanks to all who have supported them over the years. The generosity of the local community enables them to continue helping children in need.
