As the weather warms up in upstate New York, it’s the perfect time to bike ride! In the North Country, a new bike-share system is making its debut.
Just in time for riding season, CDPHP Cycle! is now operating in Warren County! This program, which has been operating in Albany, Cohoes, Schenectady, Troy, and Saratoga for the last several years, has expanded to Glens Falls, Queensbury, and Lake George, with a total of 20 bikes currently in circulation.
Convenient, Cheap and Easy for Anyone to Do
This system is the perfect summer transportation alternative, and is a cheap option for those who may be looking for a convenient ride to work or school, or who want to enjoy a leisurely cruise.
In a statement, Rachel Seeber, Chairwoman of the Warren County Board of Supervisors, pointed out two major benefits of the CDPHP Cycle! program’s arrival in Warren County. “This program will help our workers get to their places of employment, potentially putting more people in our workforce,” she said. “It will also help open up the exciting world of bicycling to a new group of people who may want to try it out without investing in a bike first, especially with the current waitlist stemming from the ongoing demand for bicycles.”
Bikes can be rented for a relatively low price. Riders can pay an hourly rate, or “pay as you go,” which costs $0.08 per minute, according to the CDPHP website. Customers can also pay a monthly or seasonal flat rate. This includes a certain number of free minutes per day, then the additional $0.08 per extra minute.
Where to Find a Bike
There’s no better way to tour the area than by the Warren County Bike Trail. This path connects the City of Glens Falls with Lake George Village. Along the way, you’ll find restaurants, shops, offices and places to stop and rest.
There are four branded CDPHP Cycle! stations in our area: one near the hospital, one next to Glens Falls City Hall, one on Country Club Road, and one on Beach Road in Lake George Village. There are currently twenty bikes available for pickup and rental between these four hubs.
Warren County welcomes the CDPHP Cycle! program just in time for another beautiful riding season. Get out on the trail and see the beautiful, mountainous area by bike!
