A Campaign to Combat Weeds, Book Cart Sales & More News to Know
You Can Help! Pull a Weed in the City if You See One
The weeds are out of control this year in Glens Falls, so much so that the Glens Falls Business Improvement District (BID) has enacted a Pitch In & Pull! campaign.
“We have noticed fewer cigarette butts and fast food wrappers, which is wonderful,” BID Board President Dan Burke acknowledged in a statement. “But the weeds this year are more than any one person or the City’s Department of Public Works can handle, and we need everyone to pitch in to take care of our beautiful city.”
A few quick tips: It’s easier to pull weeds after a rain, grab as far down as possible to get the roots, and dispose of them in trash receptacles around town. If you’re so inclined, take a photo and share on social. If you do please tag @Downtown Glens Falls on Facebook, @downtown.glens.falls on Instagram, and use the hashtags #pitchinandpull and #glensfalls.

A New Sitting Platform Constructed in Meadowbrook Preserve
There’s a new platform close to the entrance of Meadowbrook Preserve in Queensbury, and like some of the trails in the preserve, it’s accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. Sit for a moment before or after your walk. (Just don’t forget the bug spray at this time of year!)
ATF Gears Up for the Next Production: Traffic & Weather
After Slow Food and Cinderella Goes Disco wrap up, the final Adirondack Theatre Festival production for the season is Traffic & Weather, which is a tribute to songwriter Adam Schlesinger. His resume extended far, but he was best known for being a founding member of the band Fountains of Wayne (of “Stacy’s Mom” fame). Schlesinger passed away from COVID in April 2020.
“You really don’t have to be knowledgeable about Adam or his work to enjoy this show,” ATF co-founder Martha Banta said in a statement. “He was an amazing contemporary storyteller and his humor and astute observations really shine through. . .Those who are unfamiliar with his songwriting canon will leave the Wood Theater eager to discover more.”
