Goings On Around Glens Falls: Fire & Ice, The Chapman, and the Return of New Way Lunch
Fire & Ice Extended for February This Year
The first-ever Fire & Ice event at Crandall Pond, involving night ice skating, bonfires, and hot chocolate, took place in January of 2020 for one day only; it did not take place last year. This year, the fun event is not only coming back, but will be held every Friday in February from 6pm to 9pm.
Event organizers are looking for volunteers to man the six bonfires that will be strategically placed in Crandall Park. If you’re interested, you can sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f4aa5a92baaf49-fire
Bring your own skates and mug for hot chocolate!
Looking for Something to Do Indoors? Try The Chapman Museum
Just a reminder that The Chapman Museum is right in our backyard in Glens Falls, admission is just a $5 donation, and they have a ton of interactive and interesting exhibits and displays to check out. Their current movie- and TV-centered exhibits include a photo opportunity to dress up like characters from Singing in the Rain, a wall where you can contribute a movie memory, and a room where you can watch an old classic like I Love Lucy.
The Chapman is open 10am to 4pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 12pm to 4pm on Sunday.
New Way Lunch Now Sells Famous Meat Sauce, Plans for Renovations
New Way Lunch has long been known for its delicious (and secret) hot dog meat sauce, and now others can enjoy this culinary pleasure at home according to Foothills Business Daily. The Glens Falls-based business is now selling its “Dirt Dog” sauce in 12-ounce bottles at their Queensbury and Warrensburg locations, and the product will be available on their website some time in March.
Their Glens Falls location has been closed since the beginning of the pandemic, but the Gazetos family is hoping to reopen this summer after spring renovations. They plan to add a covered dining area in the alley between their building and the Empire Theater, as well as storage space in the back.
