It’s all about the Adirondack Balloon Festival in the Glens Falls region this weekend, but take a look at what else is going on below, including the annual sasquatch-themed festival in Whitehall and a glowingly great play happening at the Charles R. Wood Theater.

As of this writing the weather is clearing up for the start of the Adirondack Balloon Festival today, September 22, at Crandall Park! After a scaled-back version of the event in 2021, and the festival having been cancelled in 2020, this is very exciting indeed.

Sasquatch Festival & Calling Contest

Arrive early for the Sasquatch Festival & Calling Contest in Whitehall on Saturday, because this event has expanded exponentially in recent years (and parking is limited). Activities and vendors will be found at both Skenesborough Park and Riverside Park, and the festival rounds out with the Calling Contest at the end of the day.

It happens about four times a year – this Saturday is Free Fishing Day in New York State. Check out the fishing regulations guide, maybe grab an angler buddy, and try out this sport for free at an area pond or lake.

The second annual Sandy’s Clam Bar Reunion Show will take place at Heritage Hall in the Cool Insuring Arena with the Toga Boys and five other musical acts. Proceeds go to Operation Santa Claus.
Adirondack Wool & Arts Festival

Attention weavers, knitters, and crochet-ers: the Adirondack Wool & Arts Festival returns to the Washington County Fairgrounds in Greenwich. Come out for everything fiber arts, fleece, and related items.
A Taste of Oktoberfest at Great Escape

Six Flags Great Escape embraces seasonal food and craft beverages this weekend and every weekend through October.

Radium Girls, originally scheduled for May, is finally happening at the Charles R. Wood Theater with opening night this evening, and the production running through the weekend.
Fun fact: The Radium Girls 2018 movie was filmed at the Union Square Building right here in Glens Falls.

This family-style, al fresco dinner takes place in Glens Falls each fall, usually on Maple Street, but this year has been moved to just outside the patio area of Davidson Brothers. Proceeds go toward Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks and the Glens Falls Collaborative.

The Autumn Leaves Car Show & Craft Show

Head to Granville on Sunday (and stop at Hicks Orchard while you’re at it for apple picking!) to check out the Autumn Leaves Car Show & Craft Show. There will be dozens of vendors as well as food trucks, and of course, cars – over 250 vehicles participated last year.
