“When I buy an instrument, I want to do it in person with a knowledgeable musician,” Lakewood Music Store owner Robert Dunn said in a statement. “It’s important to be able to feel the weight and shape of the instrument, and hear the sounds it can make. That’s the experience we’ve brought to this region with Lakewood Music.”
Lakewood Music opened in South Glens Falls in late November of this year, after Dunn and his wife Candace spent the prior months preparing. The store carries popular guitar brands like Kala and Twisted Wood, as well as lesser-known brands. In addition to guitars Lakewood Music sells ukuleles, maracas, strings, and accessories. They welcome equipment trade-ins, and plan to start offering private lessons early next year.
New to the music world? You don’t necessarily need to fork over a huge investment to get started. “Acoustic guitars start at $189.99, acoustic electric guitars at $349.99, and ukuleles begin at just $39.99,” Dunn said. “Add an instruction book and anyone can be on their way to learning the basics of these string instruments.”
Lakewood Music is located at 125 Main Street in South Glens Falls, the prior home of Nash Beauty Bar, which is now at 89 Saratoga Avenue. Lakewood MusicĀ is open Monday to Friday 6pm to 8pm, and Saturday 11am to 6pm. You can find them on Facebook and at lakewoodmusic.shop.
