Hague NY/Silver Bay NY
The tiny town of Hague, named after the Dutch city, is located on the shores of Lake George.
During the Revolution, both sides camped in the area, and Benjamin Franklin stopped at the camp twice while traveling back and forth as an emissary to Canada.
Hague is the original home of the Lake George Monster, a turn of the century "Nessie"-type hoax.
Much of the area, including the stunning Silver Bay hamlet, is filled with exceptional examples of Adirondack architecture.
