Hyde Members and a guest are invited to join us for our Member Mixer on July 17 from 5 to 8 pm. Mingle with your fellow members, view the special exhibitions, and munch on light refreshments. Hyde members can also enjoy a 20% discount on Museum shop items!
Join us for an immersive performance by the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company (ESDC), a Troy-based not-for-profit arts organization known for creating site-specific works that connect movement and visual art. ESDC has a long-standing relationship with museums, including The Hyde, where they previously performed during the 2022 exhibition Transformations: The Art of John Van Alstine. This performance will be accompanied by musician Brian Melick who performs through the US and Canada with multiple solo artists, bands and dance companies.
This year, ESDC returns to The Hyde with a brand-new performance inspired by the exhibition George Rickey Across Time. George Rickey (1907–2002) was a trailblazer in kinetic sculpture, crafting stainless steel works that gracefully respond to the air around them. His captivating pieces—ranging from elegant tabletop sculptures to larger wall, floor, and ceiling-mounted works—will be on display from June 7 – September 28 throughout the galleries, with three large-scale outdoor sculptures on view through spring 2026.
The dancers will interpret Rickey’s dynamic forms through movement, creating a poetic dialogue between dance and sculpture. This site-specific performance is designed for audiences of all ages, offering a unique opportunity to experience the intersection of visual and performing arts in an engaging and memorable way.
