it’s the “season” for chocolate covered strawberries. what a fiasco we had with an albany supplier. when i called regarding prices, i was quoted a ridiculous price for the large stemmed berries that we used to get. weather and economy being the high price factors. so i opted for the regular. note…i was speaking to the president of the company (purely by coincidence). he gave me the price for the driscoll berries that seemed fair and logical. i ordered them for the next day. when they arrived, i was surprised to see that they were not driscolls, but rather a brand i did not recognize. and the price was five dollars higher. the driver left after being paid and i “stewed” about the misunderstanding. then i started opening the packages and there was tremendous spoilage…at a higher price. i muttered to myself and finally michele said call the company because you will be bitchy the rest of the day and tomorrow if you don’t. when i called i explained that i was promised driscolls and received an inferior product. i might add that in my paranoia, i sometimes feel that as a female business person, i am taken advantage of. this makes me madder. the very nice lady told me that they don’t always have driscoll berries, but that if the president told you that you would receive them, you will on the next business day. it was a “picker” who picked (not literally) the flat of wrong and rotten berries from the warehouse. he didn’t know that i had had a chance encounter with the president. he was doing his job. so when the right berries came with a $5.00 credit, i sang a happy song. and then i started dipping! life got good when the berries got good. now if they only sell…..
