as i really enter retirement….really …when i actually let my mind wander on, say, sunday night…thinking about monday morning….i smile. i can stay up as late as i want on sunday (used to “kid” myself about school nights….those nights when you knew you had to go to school the next day….OR WORK!) and i can sleep on monday til i am not tired. all right, maybe not really that long because we dog owners know that there comes a time in the morning when theygottagoout! my guy is especially considerate and will even hop in my bed and lie down until i say the word. he loves to fetch a ball, so i ask him to find it and we walk to the field where i throw it and he retrieves…forever, it seems like. later in the morning, we go for a regular walk, usually around the first class resort on a nearby island. there i can let my pal off the leash, as the resort is not presently open. my goldendoodle’s life has changed almost as drastically as mine. he used to go to doggie daycare five days a week where he played with about 25 friends. now, we may see one or two dogs around town and never for a play date. when we get home after our morning walk, i read the paper, drink a cup of coffee and then my dog and i look at each other and i say, “now what”.
