The Adirondack Theatre Festival will be hosting a Winter Gala on Friday, January 13th at 7:00pm. The party will take place at the Charles R. Wood Theater in Glens Falls and will feature some very classy entertainment, an auction, delicious hors d’ouvres by Gourmet CafĂ©, special wine selections by Adirondack Wine Merchants, and beer by Davidson Brothers.
The theme of this year’s Gala is based on superstitions, namely Friday the 13th. Objects of various superstitions will decorate the theater. Entertainment will be provided by Liz Larsen performing Tales of 13: Curses, Charms and Chance. Larsen has starred in Broadway classics such as: Hair Spray, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Fiddler on the Roof.
Last year the auction featured over 200 items that were all donated by supporters of the Adirondack Theatre Festival. All proceeds from this event ($50,000 last year) will go to producing professional theater next season. Some of the shows coming up next season will be announced at the Gala. Items that have been donated so far include: ski passes, restaurant gift certificates and paintings. If you would like to donate items for this year’s auction, please contact David King at

There will also be an online auction associated with this fundraiser. Several items are listed on the online auction, which will run through January 6th. Items not sold online will be sold at the live auction on January 13th.
Most of the auction items come from local businesses that support the company. The Adirondack Theatre Festival also has access to some amazing Broadway seats, so plenty of show tickets will be up for auction. The highest bidder for one of the auction items gets to go to a show of their choice! Tickets don’t expire for a year so you won’t have to rush down to NYC to catch the show. MLB tickets are also a hot item that go up for auction every year.
The Winter Gala is not your run of the mill benefit auction. The event tends to be one of the most talked about fundraisers in the area, due to the theatrics and extravagant decorations. This is the first big event of the New Year, and usually sells out. If you’re interested, buy your tickets now!
Tickets are sold on four different levels. A General Admission ticket for $65 gets you a seat in rows J – O. Reserved seating in the Superstitious Seats (rows C – I) will run you $80. The special Best Seats in the House tickets are $120, which includes a seat in the first two rows, as well as a VIP reception on stage, extra special hors d’ouvres, wine, and champagne on stage before the play begins. There are also eight Are You Feeling Lucky tickets available. These include a seat at one of the two four-person tables up on the stage, table service, and a special dessert served during the show.
Tickets can be purchased at the Charles R. Wood Theater, or online.
