The group of people that purchased the Glens Falls Civic Center have been looking at ways to boost profits. Some ideas that have been discussed include keeping ice on the floor year-round to attract both youth and adult hockey leagues. However, the Civic Center would like to expand beyond sporting events.
According to the Post Star, Jack Walter, the Civic Center’s new manager is focused on bringing more local people into the environment. Lawyer Ben Pratt stated to the Post Star, “The idea is to attract arts and business to the Civic Center, not just sports.”
They are considering approaching large events, such as Americade and other organizations to utilize the building. Also, more concerts and trade shows on their line-up are being discussed.
Prospective new events in coming months include concerts such as Breaking Benjamin and Five Finger Death Punch this summer and fall. Also, a mixed martial arts show, a pool-and-spa show and the LARAC fall crafts show are on the bill to potentially diversify the events held at the Civic Center.
We’re definitely looking forward to seeing different types of events held at the Civic Center! What are some type of events you would like to see more of in Glens Falls?
