If your commute brings you near the intersection of Hudson Avenue and Elm Street in Glens Falls, you may need to make some adjustments to your morning schedule to get to work on time! Site work has just started today for a parking garage which is one of three construction projects that are planned to be built in the area surrounding Glens Falls Hospital.

The construction projects are a collaboration between the state, city, Glens Falls Hospital and Bonacio. The city Common Council loaned $7.7 million towards garage construction and the state of New York will reimburse the city of Glens Falls for $3 million of the total cost.
The garage itself will house 504 spaces, as well as approximately 50 to 60 outside of the building. It will provide parking for employees of Glens Falls Hospital, tenants in Bonacio’s complex, as well as some public parking for events at the Glens Falls Civic Center.
Pavement work began Monday with Rifenberg Construction removing already existing pavement along Hudson and Elm, and continuing west. The construction site is fenced off while workers test the soil to ensure it can hold foundation supports. Concrete panels are projected to be installed in June and July.
How do you think the construction will impact the daily commute in Glens Falls?
