This year, the Glens Falls Area Youth Center received a devastating $50,000 budget cut. In an effort to make up for this loss, an online fundraising campaign has been started, and no donation is too small!
The Youth Center is the area’s only facility of its kind, and offers a variety of free programs to disadvantaged youth, ages 10 – 19. Movies, athletic tournaments, meals, counseling, and speakers are just a few of the activities youngsters can enjoy that not only help them become better people, but also keep them out of trouble.
To help the Youth Center fundraising efforts, you can make a contribution online at www.gofundme.com/ittakesacommunity. Be sure to share the link with your friends and family so that they, too, can help the cause.
Additionally, a benefit dinner and dance is being held this Saturday, November 21 at the Glens Falls Elks Club in support of the Youth Center’s director, Matt Congdon. Congdon has poured his life into the Center for many years, but recently lost his second leg to diabetes and is now confined to a wheelchair. Proceeds will help to retrofit Congdon’s house so he can continue to live independently. Tickets for the benefit may be purchased at the door on Saturday evening.
