Have you ever used the Cole’s Woods trails in Glens Falls and Queensbury for walking, running, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, or snowshoeing? If so, here is your chance to help make sure the trails continue to be well-maintained far into the future!
For more than 40 years, the Friends of Cole’s Woods has made trail improvements, conducted regular trail maintenance, and tended to the lighting system that illuminates portions of the woods in the winter. Even with the expenses associated with these efforts, the trails have remained free and open for public use.
The non-profit, volunteer organization has employed a variety of fundraising tactics in the past, including a successful campaign in 2014 that enabled the purchase of new snow grooming and brush mowing equipment, but this year, the group is trying something different: a membership drive.
Becoming a member of the Friends of Cole’s Woods is as simple as making a $25 tax-deductible donation (for an individual, couple, or an entire family). Your annual membership will help support the upkeep and maintenance of the trail system all year round and will secure Cole’s Woods’ status as an asset to our community.
All new members will receive a card that entitles them to savings at The Inside Edge, The Sports Page, Rick’s Bike Shop, iRun Local, and Grey Ghost Bicycles. Outdoor enthusiasts can find the gear they need for any season’s adventures at these local retailers and are sure to love the 5-25% discounts!
Membership applications are available at all five of the aforementioned establishments, as well as the Glens Falls YMCA, Glens Falls City Hall, Queensbury Town Center, and the Friends of Cole’s Woods website. Pick up your application today and help make sure this volunteer organization can continue maintaining the trail system we all love!
