A major winter storm is coming to Glens Falls and the Northeastern United States this weekend. In anticipation of the heavy precipitation during this long-duration snow event, the city has declared a snow emergency.
Prepare for the Weekend’s Snow Emergency
In the Glens Falls Region, the snow is expected to begin around Saturday evening and continue into early Monday. The city’s snow emergency will go into effect starting at 12:00am on Sunday and continue through 8:00am on Monday.
During a snow emergency, vehicle travel is discouraged as road conditions may be dangerous. Motorists are prohibited from parking on city streets because plow crews will be working to clear away the snow. If you must travel on the roads, then make sure your vehicle is properly prepared.
In addition to the snow emergency announcement, the City of Glens Falls noted:
- The Greater Glens Falls Transit buses will delay the start of their Monday services until 10:00am
- The local NAACP chapter has canceled their Martin Luther King, Jr. event planned for Sunday
