Did you attend the Adirondack Thunder’s Military Appreciation Night at the Cool Insuring Arena in downtown Glens Falls? If you participated in their fundraising events during the game on October 25, then you helped the hockey team raise $16,645 for veterans.
The proceeds will be donated to three local organizations; the Ben Osborn Memorial Foundation, the Veteran Relief Fund of Post 2475, and the Malta Veterans Relief Fund.
The funds were raised through several special events and programs during the course of Military Appreciation Night:
- $675 from fundraising tickets
- $1,520 from a 50/50 raffle
- $14,450 from a post-game live auction of military-themed jerseys
Thanks to the Adirondack Thunder’s Seats for Service Program and generous fans, 525 tickets were donated to military personnel, allowing them to attend the game for free.
Military Appreciation Night was presented by UA Plumbers & Steamfitters Local #773, which has employed veterans for the past century. “We couldn’t think of a better cause to sponsor!” said Mike Jarvis, Business Manager at UA Local, in a statement. “It is our pleasure to show our appreciation for the sacrifices that they make every day to defend our country.”
