The Salvation Army of Glens Falls, along with the Regional Food Bank, United Way, Comfort Foods, and other area organizations, will administer a drive-thru food pantry on Thursday, May 7th at 11am at the Washington County Fairgrounds. This is the second local food distribution event they’ve held; the first was on April 27 at Aviation Mall.
The event will entail a series of stations inside a big barn on the Fairgrounds property in Greenwich. The first station will be a registration with the Salvation Army, so they can keep track of how many adults and children are receiving food. A box will be placed in the back of each vehicle. Volunteers will then place various food items in the box at each subsequent station.
Items to be distributed include meat, produce, dry goods, and canned goods. All volunteers will adhere to social distancing guidelines. The food distribution is first come, first serve.
In their statement announcing the event the Salvation Army thanked the Washington County Fairgrounds for providing the space, United Way for arranging the truck that will bring the food, and the volunteers for ensuring the event runs smoothly.
If you or someone you know in Warren, Washington, or Northern Saratoga Counties are in need of assistance but either don’t drive or shouldn’t attend the event a food pantry delivery can be arranged by calling the Salvation Army at 518.792.1960.
