Look Magazine declared Glens Falls “Hometown USA” back in 1944. Budget Travel ranked Glens Falls one of the “Coolest Small Towns in America” in 2017. Now, Business Insider recognizes Glens Falls for the incredible city – not town! – that it is. Here’s why.
Business Insider recently compiled a ranking of the best US cities to live in after the pandemic. Then, they narrowed it down to the Northeast, which includes New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Glens Falls came in number 19 out of 21.
The financial and business news website cited the low population density at 74 people per square mile and the low average housing costs of $956 per month as the primary reasons for the positive ranking. Other factors examined were educational attainment, unemployment rate, housing affordability (separate from housing costs), share of jobs that can be done remotely, commute time, cost of living, and total spending per pupil (elementary to secondary).
