Holiday Events, Festive Tractors & Black Friday/Small Business Saturday
North Country Festival of Trees
The North Country Festival of Trees takes place at The Queensbury Hotel this Friday and Saturday. Enjoy the impeccably decorated trees for free this year! There will be no special events because of COVID, but you’ll be able to shop unique, handmade wares from local artisans while you’re there admiring all the trees.
Holiday Festival of Lights
Happening on Saturday, head to Lake George for this new walk-thru event inspired by the Capital Holiday Lights in Albany. It starts this weekend and runs for four weekends.
A #ReverseTractorParade
Since announcing the cancellation of the Greenwich Lighted Tractor Parade, event organizers have specified that there will be decorated stationary tractors set up around town. This effort to keep some festive fun on the docket is now being called the “Reverse Tractor Parade,” which invites those who would normally come to enjoy the parade to instead check out festive tractors that will be on display in shop windows, on front lawns, and more.
The Greater Greenwich Chamber of Commerce is working with the Greenwich Journal and Salem Press to collect and take professional photos of these tractors and add locations to the map. If you’re participating, share your lighted tractors with the Greenwich Lighted Tractor Parade’s Facebook page (and use the hashtag!). And if you’re driving around to see them, make sure to check out the awesome lawn tractor pulling a cardboard boat at 30 Academy Street in Greenwich.
Black Friday & Small Business Saturday: See What’s Different, What’s the Same

Cambridge Gets a New Nature Preserve
At a time when more and more people take to the outdoors for solitude and exercise, the announcement of a new nature preserve is especially exciting. The Rensselaer Land Trust (RLT) recently announced the opening of their Featherweald Nature Preserve.
The preserve is 44 acres, has two miles of wooded trails, and offers scenic views of the Hoosic River. RLT along with over 40 volunteers contributed a total of more than 500 hours to get the preserve public-ready. You can find the preserve at 187 County Route 59 in Cambridge.
