The Washington County Fair is underway now, one local theater group wraps up their season while another gears up for theirs, and there’s more to check out in and around Glens Falls.

Prepare for the Fair & More Fun Glens Falls Region Events
Demolition Derby Thrills Crowd at the Washington County Fair
The demolition derby is one of the most popular events at county fairs, and Sunday’s at the Washington County Fair did not disappoint. The fair has one more demolition derby this year and it’s on Sunday the 29th (the last day of the fair) at 5pm. Get there early to find a good seat!
Fun fact: Demolition derbies at county fairs date back to the 1950s and 60s, but popularity really picked up in the 1970s thanks to the show Happy Days.

Possible Taxi Cab Rate Changes Coming to Glens Falls
Foothills Business Daily reports that Glens Falls is reexamining taxicab regulations. Officials hope to increase fares while still keeping rates reasonable by removing the “zoned fare system;” this system basically indicates a set charge in a particular zone, with the rider paying a higher rate once the cab crosses the line into the next zone. The changes are still in draft form, and a meeting is planned to discuss the matter for September 14.
