The Southern Adirondack Independent Living (SAIL) is giving away 6,000 rapid COVID test kits at Aviation Mall tomorrow, January 22. Here’s what to know.
SAIL will be at the mall Saturday giving away rapid COVID tests from 10am to 12pm. They are asking patrons to enter through the 99 Restaurant entrance to find their table located near Dick’s Sporting Goods, and to wear a mask and practice social distancing when in line. Tests are available on a first come, first served basis as long as supplies last. There will be two-packs of tests available.
If you are experiencing symptoms of the virus, or are not feeling well and are unable to send a family member in your place please, call the SAIL office at 518.792.3537 to discuss other options.
“We just got these in and wanted to give them away immediately,” Tyler Whitney, Senior Director of Administration and Operations at SAIL, said in a statement.
“We especially encourage individuals who are currently covered by Medicaid, Medicare, or are uninsured to claim a test during the giveaway. With recent positive changes at the federal level requiring insurance companies to cover rapid tests for the commercially insured, we are committed to ensuring that all of the community has access to rapid COVID tests.”
SAIL has locations in Queensbury and Ballston Spa, and is dedicated to helping individuals live more independently. They provide services relating to medical equipment, health insurance, social services, education, and much more.
The state mass vaccination site is still at Aviation Mall as well. They do COVID testing on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays for asymptomatic individuals and people who may have been exposed to COVID-19. Test results are not rapid and could take one to several days.
