Local Nonprofits Celebrate Milestones & More Glens Falls Area News
North Shore Animal League’s Local Chapter Reaches Goal of 5,000 Cats Spayed & Neutered
North Shore Animal League America – Adirondack Region, based in Glens Falls, recently announced they have provided financial and transportation assistance to the local area to be able to spay and neuter their target of 5,000 felines since the nonprofit launched in 2015.
“The difference we’ve been able to make in the lives of these cats and kittens, and the lives of their owners and caretakers of feral colonies…it takes a village, and we’re very proud of the collaborative effort we’ve led to improve the quality of life for felines here in Warren County,” Director Deb Oligny said in a statement.
There are numerous benefits to spaying/neutering your pet, including a reduction in the number of unwanted animals that need to be euthanized. Cats that have been spayed or neutered are more likely to live longer lives, have a low risk of getting cancer, and it also reduces their urge to roam, thereby decreasing the chances of contracting diseases or getting injured.
