I know where the good stuff is. After all, award winning desserts don’t just make themselves..
Case in point is The Chocolate Mill at 164 Glen Street. All their scrumptious, decadent, melt in your mouth, gorgously presented goodies (which I partake of on a regular basis – much to my waistline’s chagrin) have not gone unnoticed. Chefs Frank & Jessica Volkommer have recently been named one of the top 10 pastry chefs in America by Dessert Professional magazine.
The Chocolate Mill makes being a chocoholic a daily challenge especially when my dear husband brings homes boxes of the stuff and tells me with a serious face, “this is to last a few weeks”. My response, of course, is to agree in principle but not in practice. In the dark of night, I sneak into the kitchen and pop a few of the coconunt, passion fruit, or cherry bon bons and then all’s right with the world.
When I’m there for lunch or dinner (I have to admit I’ve never been for breakfast), my favorite thing is to watch the customers’ reactions as they belly up to the display case, eyes rolling, lips smacking, fingers pointing picking out their chosen delectibles, smiling with culinary anticipation in the knowledge they made the right decision. And they always do.
Kudos also go to this delightful couple for winning the “Rookie of the Year” Award from the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce. Talk about being on a roll…or a baguette…or a bun.
Bye for now, Alice
