mondays at our business are usually hectic. we clean up after weekend “gigs”, start new salads and lunch specials, order product for the week, get organized for the upcoming catering jobs, answer phone messages left over the weekend, make a couple soups, bake bread, check freezer inventory, and serve lunch. if anyone wants to take a day off, you can pretty much plan on them wanting a monday. i rather enjoy mondays at the cafe since that seems to be a creative day for me. and i am especially fond of multi-tasking. sadly, i think i also do a bit of micro-managing, especially on mondays. maybe that’s why girls like that day off…….
this monday was not a good day! last friday, one of the reach-in coolers was too warm. we called a service man who said it needed to cool off and he would check it monday. today when he checked the cooler, he said it was not good….the compressor was gone and it would be very pricey to repair. i bought that cooler at joseph’s auction enough years ago that i can’t remember when. the decision was made, i purchased a new one for 2500.00. that’s a lot of money. but food needs to be safe and good, so that was that. a not so great monday, but tuesday, that’s a whole new day!
