i was sure bolton landing was a ghost town by the end of october. where was i and is this the bustling touristy town i moved into last may? the library director said people stay sane during the winter by going to and hosting parties. that made me fretful since i had moved ALL the large, really large, furniture from my 2300square foot loft into a much smaller space. where would i put party guests? and because i was a newbie, who would i invite anyway? thank god i went to glens falls five days a week for work. i had the road almost to myself all the way to exit 22. there was only one day that i was nervous while driving to the city because snow was blowing and heavy.
one of the restaurants that i like in town stayed open so on friday nights, my friend and i went there for french onion soup and wine. the rest of the weekend, i walked my dog and read. american idol started in january so things looked up. and i was elected to a 2 year term as a library trustee. the monthly meeting became my private social event. great group of people and great way to catch up on “goings on”.
as quiet and long as winter was here in bolton, i am not quite ready to invest in tip-ups. to cold out there on the ice! by next winter my plan is to have sold much of the stuff in this rental so i can have a party.
I loved this article. It brought back some wonderful memories of my father and I fishing on the lake in the winter.
