Saratoga racing is in full gallop. But when the ponies are not prancing on Tuesdays, think about coming to Glens Falls.
Everyone is excited when track season is here. Even if you don’t go to the track, knowing that the shops, restaurants and lodgings throughout the entire region become full of folks enjoying themselves, it just gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside, doesn’t it?
Glens Falls is no exception. We are so close to Saratoga Springs but still some people just find it difficult to cross that bridge over the Hudson River. What’s up with that? So, if you’re reading this from Saratoga County or locations South, think about adding us to your itinerary.
Now, if you’re both a horse lover and an art afficianado, you’ll definately need to check out Tom Myott Gallery lo
cated on the first floor of The Shirt Factory, Cooper & Lawrence Streets. Tom has a strong and ever-growing reputation as a popular equine and horse racing artist. He also has exhibits featuring other fine artists from the region. He presently has an exhibition of his works entitled “Thoroughbreds” which runs until August 28. Call 518-798-8431 for more info.
Here comes a “Did You Know?” fact: Did you know that from 1896 to 1900 there was a horse racing track called “The Mile Track” that was so popular it was on the Grand Circuit. It was located off of Glen Street down Lincoln Avenue continuing past Kensington Road area…a full 100 acres of land! They had mostly pacers, I believe, and boasted a world record. It’s long gone now, of course, which is a pity.
A horse is a horse, of course, of course. Bye for now, Alice
PS. Get your pets spayed or neutered.
I like this one Alice!
