today, july6, the business was closed because we were catering on the third. so….it was a road trip for my friend, flo, and myself. we turned on her garmon gps and started for norwich, vt. there is a wonderful destination for all sorts of foodie types, the king arthur bakery. not just for bakers, though, this is an oasis for everyone who loves to eat and feed others. we went specifically for a fancy bread machine and there was a gracious ” worker-bee” who was excited to show us the how to of the machine. then she proudly offered us samples of other buttery goodies. a person could get “hurt” there as the spectacular array of baked items was endless. i opted for iced coffee and two loaves of bread and a cookie cutter, dog-bone shaped. there were tee shirts, beautiful serving dishes, gadgets, cookbooks, cheeses, and small appliances. we lunched at queechee, shopped at the boutique, fat hat, and lastly stopped at jk adams in dorset, where i bought cumin pickles and a japanese paring knife. great day for a road trip.
