WITTY, SPOOFING A LA MEL BROOKS, FABULOUS ACCENTS, CLEVER, GOOD ACTING AND HUMOROUS.
I don’t like to write about what happened in the past because it’s a little late by then to get you to go see it, right. I mean, what’s the point? However I am going to make an exception in this case. If you didn’t see “The 39 Steps” at The Wood Theater as part of their August WoodFest, you missed one heck of a funny show. Presented by The Depot Theatre who’s home base is Westport, NY, this was one of othe best theatre productions I’ve seen at The Wood.
Well cast & acted, quick-paced, laugh-out-loud funny, wry and witty; it had all the elements I needed to enjoy the end of a hard work week. No one was suffering, there was no angst, no one dying of some dreaded disease…just plain fun. Sound cues happened on time, no lines were flubbed and you could understand what they were saying, you know – a professional production all round.
Hats off to the actors: Patrick Toon & Margarent Loesser Robinson were excellent. However, as it was meant to be, Wynn Harmon and Michael DiLiberto stole the show playing what seemed hundreds of different roles and accents! They were brilliant.
So, if you ever have a chance to see “The 39 Steps”, step it up! I hope your experience will be as enjoyable as mine.
Bye for now, Alice
