Hey foodie friends. We are loving our new smoker box that we bought for our grill! This is such an easy way to smoke food on the grill and the results are delicious!
Most Glens Falls home improvement stores that I have visited sell wood chips if they sell grills. There is hickory, applewood, Jack Daniels wood barrel chips and many more to choose from.
Smoked meats, veggies and fish are easy to do with a smoker box . This chicken was so crispy on the outside and still juicy on the inside, it really was some of the best chicken I’ve had.
The smoker box is so easy to use:
- Soak a couple of handfuls of your wood chips in water for at least a few hours. Overnight is really ideal.
- Place the chips in the box
- Place on the heat (under the grill grates)
- Fire up the grill and shut the lid.
- When you see some smoke coming out, it’s time to get the food on
For This Chicken:
- Grill to brown skin side down over the direct heat.
- Turn off one side of the grill
- Turn chicken and move to the side with the flame off
- Turn down the side that is still lit
- Let the chicken cook for about an hour total. Skin should be golden & crispy and juices should run clear when you pierce the chicken with a fork.
Sides:
Roasted potatoes with onion, garlic and fresh herbs with fresh sauteed green beans were perfect accompaniments!
