A Food Fundraiser, A New Boutique & More to Know About
Early Bird Tickets Are on Sale Now for WACM Fundraising Dinner
The 32nd annual International Cuisine Dinner & Auction, a gala that serves as the biggest fundraiser of the year for the World Awareness Children’s Museum, is slated to take place at the Great Escape Lodge on May 22; the festival took place outdoors last year, as shown above. The 2022 theme is Thailand! Early bird tickets are on sale now at $100 or $85 for young professionals up to 35 years of age. Ticket prices go up to $125 and $110 respectively on May 1.
Glens Falls Considers Transportation Hub
The City of Glens Falls is looking to construct a multi-purpose parking garage/transportation hub in the current Elm Street parking lot, which would be able to accommodate between 350 and 500 vehicles; it would also serve as a bus station for Trailways. The estimated price is $15 to $17 million, which officials hope to obtain through a grant. According to Foothills Business Daily, there has been some pushback and questions on whether the City needs additional parking spaces or not (it arguably may, with the addition of new housing downtown).
Owl Pen Books Will Reopen on April 30
The chicken-coop-turned-bookstore Owl Pen Books of Greenwich closed last year after the passing of Hank Howard, one of the owners. Sydney Nichols and Eric Kuffs saw the listing online from their Los Angeles home and decided to take the leap and move across country with their four-year-old to take over the store. The bookstore’s reopening happily coincides with Independent Bookstore Day. They’ll be open 11am to 5pm this Saturday, and then the same timeframe Wednesdays through Sundays going forward.
A New Kids Boutique Is Coming to Glens Falls
(g)row is a new kids boutique specializing in children’s clothing from ages zero to five, and it’s opening soon at 18 Exchange Street. According to their recent Facebook posts, the store is the brainchild of two moms who met while pregnant. They plan to open on May 27, and you can check out their Facebook page in the meantime: https://www.facebook.com/grow-106919958672921/
