Salem's 25th Annual Holiday Parade

Santa’s making an early visit to ‘the Middle of Everywhere,’ arriving in Salem on Saturday, November 25th, for the annual Salem Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade. This year’s theme is ‘"A Very Sparkly Christmas!”

The 2017 Parade will kick off at 1pm from Vail Street, following Main Street to Park Place and ending at the Fairgrounds. Grand Marshall Carly McPhee, daughter of Don and Carol McPhee and outstanding senior at Salem Central School, will lead the parade. Carly is a member of The National Honor Society, All County Chorus, Castleton Choir, Jr. Staff Member HOBY Leadership Conference, Yearbook Editor. She also volunteers her time to Lunch Learn & Play, For the Love of Kids Benefit and is active in many sports.  

Also coming to the parade are the always popular Susi Shoes Dancers, the Grinch, Dinosaurs, Cool2BKind Kids, Amy Neil’s Canine Solutions, Fire Trucks, Horses, Daisies & Scouts, Salem Central Drama Club and more. 

Performances will be held in front of the judges stand under the traffic light at Proudfit Hall, where Master of Ceremonies Pete Carrolan will be entertaining the crowd.

Come early and join the Elf on the Shelf Scavenger Hunt, 10-2 at participating businesses. All completed entries are eligible to win a hand-made Chocolate Santa from Steininger’s Restaurant!   This event coincides with American Express ‘Small Business Saturday.” When you Shop Local, 68 cents of every dollar stays local!

While you’re in Salem, be sure to check out Bancroft Public Library Gingerbread House Contest 10-1; Grand Opening of the Artisans Holiday Market, 10-5; Gardenworks Farm Holiday Open House and Holiday Concert with the LaMothe-Gee Family at 2pm with food sampling and Holiday Open House; and merchant specials throughout the town!
