About this event

Valcour Bay Heritage Tour curated by Dr. Bruce Venter, president of America’s History LLC, and Chris Sabick, Executive Director of the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. The tour will depart from the Whitehall Castle (62 Poultney Street, Whitehall, NY) by motorcoach and travel to two sites near Valcour Island. Lunch will be at the Basin Harbor Resort. Guests will then travel by boat and follow the retreat route once navigated by Benedict Arnold and his fleet to Button Bay, while enjoying expert interpretation provided by Dr. Venter and Mr. Sabick.

Dr. Bruce Venter is president of America's History LLC, a history tour and conference company. He is the author of the award-winning book, The Battle of Hubbardton: The Rear-Guard Action that Saved America, and a commissioner on the Saratoga County 250th Commission. You can learn more about Mr. Sabick below. Tour guests will return to Whitehall between 4 p.m. – 5 p.m. The general public are invited to join those who took the tour to enjoy refreshments at American Legion Post #83, 148 Main Street. Bob Mowatt will speak about the History of Skenesborough and its evolution to Whitehall. Pat Niles will speak about Benedict Arnold’s time spent in the north country and the impact on the American Revolution.
