Below, we’ve highlighted six of the many talented artists and artisans who will be in attendance at the festival. Find out what to expect from the vendors, and learn why the Fall Arts Festival is an absolute can’t-miss event!
Incredible Folk Paintings by Cate Mandingo
Cate Mandigo first tried her hand at folk paintings in large part because of her mother, who loved Grandma Moses. Cate was working as an international banker in Washington DC and wanted a productive hobby to keep her busy after work hours. She decided to try her hand at painting, hoping to paint something for her mother that might resemble a Grandma Moses piece.
After buying $16 worth of art supplies Cate told herself she would paint 50 paintings. If they still looked bad after 50, she’d stop. Cate completed a decent painting for her mother’s Christmas present that year, 1979, and did the LARAC June show the following year in 1980, winning a prize and selling every painting she had. She just kept going from there.
Sweet & Soothing Maple Syrup From Mapleland Farms
Mapleland Farms of Salem will be on site at the Fall Arts Festival with their award-winning maple syrup products. This five-generation family farm makes the most of the climate, soil, and trees to produce the absolute best high-quality maple syrup.
Brothers David and Terry Campbell were making their own sugar as little boys, gathering raw sap from trees and transporting it to their grandfather’s sugarhouse for finishing. Eventually, they convinced their father they needed their own sap house and the family business and traditions continued on from there.
Screen Printing & Tee-Shirts From One on 1 Design
Eric Melito designs original tee-shirts representing Upstate New York, emphasizing that this is a beautiful place to live and to visit. Melito was thrilled the first time a customer told him one of his hand silk-screened shirts was sent across the world to a friend, and many, many more have traveled across the globe since then.
You can find Adirondack wildlife, mountains, and similar themes on Eric’s many designs, as he loves to draw his inspiration from nature. Showcase your hometown and regional pride when you wear one of his original designs – or, gift one to someone who doesn’t live in this area, so they can have a piece of the Adirondacks all the time.
High-Quality Artisan Soaps & More From Wind Song Acres
Handcrafted soap, soy wax candles, and bath and body products are what you can find when you visit Wind Song Acres at the Fall Arts Festival. If you’re perhaps looking to get a head start on your Christmas shopping you can definitely find something for everyone: the soaps and candles range from fall scented to floral tones to more fruity aromas, and there are a number of other products to check out as well with essential oils, lotions, mens products, and more.
Nadine Adams was working as a science teacher in 2003 when a colleague mentioned that she made her own soaps from scratch. Nadine felt inspired to try it herself and hasn’t looked back since! Now that she’s retired from teaching, she can concentrate even more on this rewarding passion.
Impressive Creations From Kerr Chainsaw Carvings
Nothing says “Adirondack decor” like a gorgeous wood carving, and you can purchase your own at the Fall Arts Festival straight from Kerr Chainsaw Carvings.
These carvings are a perfect choice for a truly unique decoration or conversation piece to have in your home, or to give as a gift. No two trees are alike, and therefore, no two carvings are alike. Each design is crafted keeping the individuality of the wood grain and curves in mind.
Handmade Silver Jewelry From Escape Artist Designs
If you’re looking for beautifully crafted jewelry you won’t find anywhere else, look no further than Escape Artist Designs. Artist Heidi Cobb creates handmade designs from floral to decorative scrollwork, but specializes in metal clay work.
You’ll be able to find necklaces and other jewelry sporting florals, leaves, decorative swirls, and much more. Consider getting a little something for yourself or a loved one!
