Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) on Glens Falls Area Fireworks

Typically begin at dusk or shortly after - often 9pm or 9:15pm, but can vary. The Lake George 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fireworks start around 9:30pm. The Schenectady SummerNight fireworks are at 10pm.

Light rain may not affect a display, but severe weather or high winds can. Check with event organizer when possible. The Village of Lake George typically posts fireworks cancellations on their Facebook page.

Many are free to attend, although some may charge for parking or special viewing areas. Check individual event details.

It depends on the event. For Lake George fireworks, street parking (paid) fills up fast, so you’ll want to get there early. If you park at the top of McGillis Avenue or Montcalm Street, past the meters, you won’t have to pay. For the July 3 fireworks at Crandall Park, the park has a few parking areas and free street parking close by.

For major events like Lake George or Saratoga plan on arriving 1 to 2 hours before fireworks begin if you’d like a prime viewing spot.

Most outdoor fireworks events allow folding chairs and blankets. Check with individual event organizers if needed.

Policies vary by event, but most organizers discourage bringing pets because fireworks can be scary and stressful for them.

Some places allow outside food or drinks. Others discourage bringing your own if they have food vendors, and some may have restrictions on coolers or alcohol. As always, check with individual event organizers to be certain!

Yes! Both the Lake George Steamboat Company and Lake George Waterfront Cruises offer fireworks cruises, just check their schedules on their websites.

The Lake George waterfront is probably the most popular place to watch fireworks that's closest to Glens Falls. For 4th of July fireworks specifically, the July 3rd fireworks at Crandall Park is the best.

Technically you can if you hike up, but hiking in the dark is not recommended (even if you hike up before it gets dark, you have to hike back down). This is absolutely not a good option for families with kids. The highway for driving up the mountain closes at 6pm - also not ideal for fireworks.

The July 3 fireworks at Crandall Park are definitely the most family-friendly with the least complicated logistics of getting there and parking. There are bounce houses, food vendors, and activities ahead of the fireworks, plus a playground, and the Glens Falls Symphony plays fun, kid-friendly songs.

The fun doesn't stop once summer is over - look forward to fireworks over New Year's, and also at the Lake George Winter Carnival come February!
