Open Door Mission and Pine Knolls Alliance Church Join Forces on Food Assistance

By Brooke Stehle

A new partnership is set to expand food assistance for individuals and families in the greater Glens Falls community. Beginning October 1, 2026, Pine Knolls Alliance Church will transition its food pantry operations to Open Door Mission at 226 Warren Street in Glens Falls.

Expanded Capacity Drives the Partnership

The move follows a major expansion of Open Door Mission's food pantry, which has tripled the facility's capacity. By bringing their pantry services together, the two organizations aim to serve more households while making better use of community resources.

"We are honored that Pine Knolls Alliance Church has entrusted Open Door Mission with continuing this important work," said Reuben Todd, Executive Director of Open Door Mission. "With the recent expansion of our food pantry, we have significantly greater capacity to serve our neighbors."

Continuity for Pantry Guests and Volunteers

People who currently receive food assistance through Pine Knolls Alliance Church will be welcomed at Open Door Mission to help maintain continuity during the transition. PKA volunteers who want to continue supporting the food pantry will also have opportunities to serve at the Warren Street location.

More Space for Growing Ministries

The partnership also gives Pine Knolls Alliance Church additional space for its growing church ministries. In an Open Door Mission press release, Pastor Scott Kelly thanked the many volunteers and donors who have supported the church's food pantry over the years.

Starting October 1, 2026, food pantry services for both organizations will operate from Open Door Mission's Warren Street location, giving Glens Falls residents a single, expanded resource for food assistance going forward.
