A Vote for Glens Falls

The NYSPHSAA Executive Committee voted 8-3 on October 21, 2026, at its meeting in Saratoga Springs, choosing Glens Falls over current host Binghamton. Girls basketball championships will stay at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy during the same period.

Interim General Manager Tadd Sipowicz said the arena is excited to welcome student-athletes, families, and fans from across the state. He pointed to the community’s championship basketball tradition and the chance to showcase Glens Falls on a statewide stage.

Championship Dates

  • March 16-19, 2028
  • March 15-18, 2029
  • March 14-17, 2030

Ticket information and event schedules will be announced at a later date.

A Tradition Decades in the Making

Glens Falls hosted the boys tournament from 1981 to 2016, back when the arena was the Glens Falls Civic Center. After a stint in Binghamton and a two-year pause for COVID, Glens Falls hosted again from 2022 to 2024 before the event returned to Binghamton for 2025 through 2027.

The court has showcased future stars like Stephon Marbury, Lamar Odom, and Kemba Walker, along with hometown favorites Jimmer Fredette and Joseph Girard III.

About Harding Mazzotti Arena

The 4,850-seat arena opened in 1979 and is home to the Adirondack Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the New Jersey Devils. It also houses Heritage Hall, a 6,189-square-foot banquet space that celebrates the city’s athletic history.

Why It Matters for the Region

The tournament draws thousands of visitors to Warren County each March, supporting hotels, restaurants, and shops during the late-winter season. Previous estimates placed its annual local economic impact at about $2 million.

Credit goes to the Greater Glens Falls tournament committee, its volunteers, and the arena team for bringing the championships back. Watch hardingmazzottiarena.com for ticket news as the 2028 tournament gets closer.
