Toes in the Sand - Relax at the Beach

Haviland Cove Park

Haviland Cove Park features a beach on the Hudson River along with picnic areas, grills, a playgrounds, and restrooms. There's a floating raft kids love to use. Note, food and drink is in the picnic area only.

For the Kids: Area Splash Pads

Crandall Park

The splash pad at Crandall Park is situated right by the playground. Splash around play, and check out the little book library, walking paths, disc golf, and the pond. Kids love to walk over the small bridges on the pond and check out the island, usually inhabited by ducks and geese. Restrooms are close by.

Moreau Recreational Park 

Located off the beaten path in Fort Edward, this lesser known splash pad at Moreau Recreational Park sits near the park's accessible playground. If you're looking this one up on Google maps and see the Harry J. Betar Jr. Recreational Park, you're in the right spot - it's basically two parks and playgrounds in the same location. There are also lots of sports fields that youth teams use.

Sun & Swims at Area Pools

Gurney Lane Pool

Gurney Lane Recreation Area in Queensbury features a 62,000-square-foot pool with a waterslide, diving well, shallow kids area, locker rooms, restrooms, and a concession stand. Day-use admission is available, and adult lap swim sessions are offered in the mornings.

East Field Pool

Glens Falls residents can cool off at East Field pool during the summer season, near where the Dragons baseball games take place.

Make a Day Of It at a Waterpark or On the River

Great Escape's Hurricane Harbor

Hurricane Harbor at Great Escape in Queensbury offers a full waterpark experience with a wave pool, waterslides, kids areas, lazy river tubing, and plenty of ways to stay cool.

Adirondack Adventure Center

Head to Adirondack Adventure Center in Lake Luzerne, which offers lazy river tubing and whitewater rafting; they also have a treetop course with ziplines. Bonus tip: You can combine two adventures in one day, so you can make it a full day of refreshing water fun with both tubing and rafting!
