By Erin Nudi

Spend the afternoon in one of the many parks and picnic spots in the Glens Falls area! Bring your own food, or, kick the experience up a notch by getting takeout. Either way, you can look forward to soaking in the sun with your favorite person or family.

We've broken out the best picnic spots below, plus nearby restaurants that offer takeout for lunch, perfect for picnicking.

Best Picnic Spots Near Glens Falls

*Note, alcohol is typically allowed in parks as long as it's in the picnic area, and with a meal, but double check individual park rules before packing beverages.

Crandall Park

Crandall Park is the prime Glens Falls park, and picnicking here is an excellent choice. Picnic with the kids by the playground, where there are grills and picnic tables, or venture towards the pond for a quieter experience.

There are benches and seating by the pond and the adjacent fountain, plus grassy fields. There's also a disc golf course!

Haviland Cove Park

For waterfront views and beach vibes by the Hudson River, head to Haviland Cove Park. The picnic area is close to the playground and beach, and they do have grills available to use.

Hovey Pond Park

Like Crandall, Hovey Pond Park has a pond, where you'll find surrounding benches, Adirondack chairs, and picnic tables. There are no grills, but there is a playground, a walk-through garden area, and a wetlands area to explore.

Where you'll be picnicking is a good distance away from the playground (or there are picnic tables and benches in the playground area as well).

Moreau Lake State Park

A tad farther away from the others (just 15 minutes from Glens Falls) is Moreau Lake State Park, a huge park that offers camping facilities, walking paths, and kayak rentals. Combine your picnic with an outdoorsy outing, or relax on the beach.
