Rick Gallup’s Document Solutions of the North Country had been in business in South Glens Falls close to Northway Exit 17 for about 20 years when they decided they really needed more room. Their move in April to 543 Queensbury Avenue in the Queensbury Industrial Park provides them with additional warehouse space and a bigger sales office from which to serve their customer base of small to medium-sized businesses in Warren, Washington, Saratoga, and Essex Counties (with a few customers in Albany and Plattsburgh as well).
Document Solutions is an authorized dealer and service provider for Xerox printers ranging in size from smaller desktop copiers to production press versions. They also provide service to their customers’ machines produced by other manufacturers and can provide supplies for most brands of printers. Specializing in printers, they are able to provide a larger selection of printing supplies and machines than the larger box-type office supply stores. Document Solutions’ five employees partner with Xerox and its world-wide service organization to keep customers in machines, supplies, and service.
There’s even an auto-replenishment program available whereby software informs Document Solutions of the North Country that a customer’s printer is in need of ink or other supplies, so that supplies can be shipped before the customer runs out. With the automatic replenishment option, shipping is free on all orders over $50. Printer servicing is free as well. Gallup says that 90% of orders placed are on their way within a day.
With a managed print services contract, customers participate in the auto-replenishment program with printer servicing, parts and service included as well. Thus, a company’s IT staff can spend time on promoting the business and making it run more smoothly without using up time servicing printers. With the managed print option, customers receive monthly reports on usage and cost, along with Document Solutions’ recommendations on managing printing costs. Gallup says that businesses on the managed print services program average a savings of 20% on printing costs.
As Xerox dealers, Document Solutions is affiliated with a company whose employees average around 20 years of experience. One of Gallup’s employees retired from Xerox after 30 years and now is working for Document Solutions.
Gallup is favorably impressed with a color printer Xerox currently has on the market called the Color Qube. It narrows the gap in costs between color and black-and-white documents and, in addition, gives the environment a break because, using ink that is in solid form, there’s no need for a cartridge. This results in a 90% waste reduction. Gallup says that the Color Qube provides quality color printing comparable to laser printers.
