WWAARC, the Warren-Washington-Albany
Counties Chapter of NYSARC Inc., will hold its
third annual fall gala, Jewels & Jerseys, on Oct.
4 at the Hall of Springs in Saratoga Springs.
The event will feature Bucky Dent and
Chris Chambliss, former players with the New
York Yankees, who will be available for photos
and autographs. Attendees are encouraged to
wear their favorite sports team jersey, jeans
and jewels.
The evening will offer culinary delights,
wines and spirits, entertainment by Grand
Central Station Band, silent and live auctions
and a chocolate competition amongst local
restaurants and confectioners.
The second annual gala last year had over 80 different wines to be sampled as well as many rare brands of scotch and bourbon. The hour and a half long cocktail reception includes an extensive silent auction with gifts donated by local businesses and individuals.
“For over 50 years we have served the most vulnerable residents in our community and the gala is a way for our community to support our mission while having a great night of food, friendship and entertainment,” said Executive Director John Von Ahn. “This is an exciting time for WWAARC as we just concluded an overwhelmingly successful membership drive of over 2,500 new members from Warren, Washington and Albany counties.”
This year, WWAARC will be presenting the second Respectful Commitment Award, presented to a person who has inspired others by their outstanding accomplishments and commitment to the disabilities community.
The chocolate competition will include Black Diamond Caterers, The Chocolate Spoon, Mazzone Hospitality and Stomach Cakes. Attendees will vote for their favorite chocolate dessert.
Media sponsors for the event include the Glens Falls Business Journal, Mannix Marketing, The Post-Star, WGY and Fox Sports.
