Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. announced the promotions of Kimberly Romano to assistant vice president and Kingsbury branch manager and Ashleigh Christian to officer and Port Henry branch manager.

In addition, officer and branch manager Bella Boardway was selected to lead the Lake Luzerne office.

Romano will oversee both the Kingsbury and Fort Ann offices. She joined the company in 1988 as a teller and has received multiple promotions. She most recently served as officer and Lake Luzerne branch manager.

Romano recently served as vice president of the Caritas board of directors and Gala Committee member, co-treasurer for the Hadley”Luzerne Chamber of Commerce, and member of the South Glens Falls Rotary and its grants committee. She has an associate’s degree in business administration from SUNY Adirondack and a general banking diploma from the American Banker’s Institute. She resides in Hadley.

Christian joined the company in 2008 as a customer service representative and was recently elected to the company’s High Performance Club. She has an associate’s degree from Hudson Valley Community College and has completed various American Banker Institute classes.

Christian is a volunteer for Teach Children To Save, the town of Minerva Clean-Up Day and the Schroon Lake Craft Fair. She resides in Minerva.

Boardway manages operations at the Lake Luzerne office. She joined the company in 1990 and was promoted multiple times, most recently serving as officer and Port Henry branch manager. She was named in 2007 to the company’s High Performance Club.
She is a graduate of Schroon Lake Central School and has completed various American Banker Institute classes. She serves her community as co-treasurer of the Hadley”Luzerne Chamber of Commerce and as a volunteer shopper for the Warren County “Shop with a Cop” program for children in need. Boardway resides in Chestertown.

The Adirondack Trust Co. hired Christopher J. Rose as vice president, investment officer.

Rose joined the company in June and is responsible for the portfolio management of various personal trusts, investment management, employee benefit and institutional accounts. He has more than 25 years of investment management experience.

Rose is a graduate of St. Bonaventure University with a bachelor of arts in history. He also received his M.B.A in finance in 2002 at the College of St. Rose.

Caelynn Prylo of Ballston Spa was appointed director of continuing education at SUNY Adirondack.

Prylo most recently served as assistant director of Community and Professional Education/Center for Effective Teaching at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.

Prylo earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology with a minor in French from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree in curriculum development and instructional technology from the University at Albany.

Prylo’s new duties will include directing workforce development initiatives and technology programs, including contract and grant training; direct community outreach programs, including the Summer Enrichment Program and the Senior Lecture Series; evaluate current revenue sources and develop new revenue sources; and develop and build relationships with the area business community and economic development entities.

The Faculty Association of SUNY Adirondack elected Chandler Atkins, Ph.D, to the office of Faculty Association president.

Having served as president once before, from 2001 through 2008. He leads roughly 300 local professionals from throughout the Southern Adirondacks employed by the school.

Atkins owns and operates the Elms Waterfront Cottages, an award-winning resort in Lake Luzerne. He was instrumental in the launch of the discotheque movement, establishing a chain of 26 discotheques throughout the country in the 1980s.

He founded Atkins Training & Development LLC, a consulting and training company in Lake Luzerne.

He is on the board of the board of the Luzerne Music Center, the Lyme Disease Association and the Unitarian-Universalist Society and is an active volunteer and leader in many other community organizations.

Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. appointed Michael Mihaly to vice president and investment officer.

Mihaly will serve as a portfolio manager for individual and corporate retirement plans, personal trust, investment management accounts, foundations and not-for-profit relationships. He joins the bank with more than 15 years of investment and portfolio management experience in the Capital Region.

A Wilton resident, he has a bachelor’s degree in industrial and commercial accounting from St. John Fisher College. He earned an accredited fiduciary investment manager certification from the Cannon Investment School and has taken certified financial planner classes, as well as American Banker Institute and New York State Bankers Association courses.

Mihaly is board president for the Children’s Museum of Saratoga, a member of the Domestic Violence Rape Crisis Services of Saratoga County Board, and a softball coach for the Old Saratoga Athletic Association (OSAA).

For the third consecutive year, Don Tenne, ChFC, based in Glens Falls, was named MetLife Premier Client Group’s 2013 Financial Planner of the Year.

The award recognizes the top-rated financial planner nationwide out of a pool of more than 700 financial planners across MetLife Premier Client Group (MPCG). The winner is chosen based on a point system that measures the number and complexity of the advisor’s plans, advice given, and total planning fees.

A 31-year veteran of the financial services industry, Tenne serves the greater Glens Falls, Saratoga Springs, and Albany area as a financial services representative and financial planner, providing insurance, financial planning, and investment advisory services to individuals and businesses throughout the region. He also teaches a continuing education course at SUNY-Adirondack.

Tech II Business Services, Inc. announced that Craig Stephenson was promoted to senior systems consultant.

His main focus at Tech-II is providing new and existing customers in the Capital Region and Upstate New York with technology solutions and customer service.

The company said his experience is highly diversified through local and international technology solutions, as well as a solid career in business and marketing.

Adirondack Technical Solutions hired two new employees.

Robert Brush joins the ATS team in the role of network security engineer. Vincent Sprague joins the ATS team in the role of senior solutions architect.

Sprague comes to the team from a large IT Services provider out of the Albany area. He has 15 years of experience with Microsoft server environments as well as 10 years of VMWare experience. He has multiple certifications in VMware, Microsoft and Symantec Technologies. His specialties are virtualization, messaging and collaboration, unified communications and all Microsoft server platforms.

Glens Falls National Bank and Trust Co. appointed officer Heather Bala to Fort Edward and Washington County branch manager, and Jennifer Sharrow to Argyle branch manager and officer.

Bala, of Hudson Falls, will oversee operations at the bank’s two Fort Edward-area branches. She joined the bank in 1999 as a teller and most recently served as officer and Argyle branch manager. She has more than 15 years of banking experience and in 2009 was elected to the bank’s High Performance Club.

Bala is a graduate of Schuylerville Central School and has attended Empire State College. Active in her community, she is treasurer for the Washington County Community Action Angels, a volunteer for the Argyle Fire Department and numerous fundraiser walks, and is a member of the Hudson Falls Rotary Club and the Washington County LDC/Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Selection Committee.

Sharrow, of South Glens Falls, will oversee operations at the Argyle office. She joined the bank in 1987 as a teller and has more than 25 years of banking experience with the company. She has been elected to the High Performance Club three times.

Sharrow has an associate’s degree in hotel/restaurant management from Paul Smith’s College and has completed a number of American Institute of Banking courses. She is active in her community as treasurer for the Crop Walk, a volunteer with the VITA tax return assistance program, and a mission and outreach committee member for the United Methodist Church of Hudson Falls.

The GlobalFoundries semiconductor manufacturing technology plant in Malta appointed Henry “Hank” DiMarco as vice president, site construction and facilities for Fab 8, and John Painter as senior director, facilities, for Fab 8.

DiMarco will have responsibility for all Fab 8 site construction and infrastructure strategy and execution as well as facilities projects and operations. DiMarco joins GlobalFoundries from FALA Technologies in Kingston. DiMarco built his career at IBM, where he held a number of progressive engineering and leadership positions in locations around the globe.

From 2000 to 2013, DiMarco served as senior location executive for the IBM East Fishkill campus where he was responsible for the design, construction and facilities operations for the IBM 300mm fab. He led the day-to-day facilities operations including site chemical, environmental, energy and maintenance operations processes and ran the manufacturing operations for advanced ceramic packaging. He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in computer engineering from Clarkson University.

Painter will lead all day-to-day facilities operations supporting the Fab 8 campus reporting to DiMarco. He joins GlobalFoundries from Intel in Hillsboro, Ore., where he most recently had site management responsibilities for facilities technology development engineering, EHS & S and site services, providing 24/7 operations and maintenance for the Oregon campus.

From 1996 to 2010, Painter held numerous, progressive leadership positions in facilities, operations, engineering and EHS with Intel in New Mexico. He held a technical sales manager role with Ecolochem in Norfolk, Va., and leadership roles with Duke Power Co. as a nuclear production engineer in Charlotte, N.C.

He earned a bachelor’s of science degree in health physics from Lipscomb University and a master’s of science degree in environmental & water resources engineering from Vanderbilt University.
