The Town of Queensbury held a ribbon
cutting ceremony Oct. 10 to celebrate the
opening of the roundabout at the intersection
of Aviation Road, Dixon Road and Farr
Lane.
The town sponsored the intersection improvement
project in response to concerns
regarding traffic safety and lack of pedestrian
and bicycle accommodations along
the corridor, officials said. The intersection
improvement project includes a roundabout,
sidewalks, crosswalks, lighting, landscaping
and other streetscape enhancements.
The $1.67 million project was funded
through the cooperation of the federal
Highway Administration, state Department
of Transportation, Adirondack/Glens Falls
Transportation Council and the town. The
federal government paid 80 percent of the
project cost.
Creighton Manning Engineering of Albany
did design and construction inspection for
the project. Rifenburg Construction of Troy
was the contractor.
