Owners Alyssa and David Dawkins of Body Relief Day Spa in Queensbury will be moving to a new location, across the street from their current spa facility. The new spa will be located at 980 Route 9, Queensbury, and is expected to open at the end of February.
The spa has been open in its current location at 959 Route 9 for 15 years. It is located inside of the Mount Royal Plaza strip mall. There was a need to expand the location in order to serve more clients, the owners said.
Alyssa Dawkins started her career as a massage therapist in Vermont some 25 years ago. Her husband, David, is also trained in massage therapy.
Construction and renovation of the new building began in November. Crews have been working to get the new facility ready by deadline. The owners said they were fortunate that there was warm December weather that helped make it easier for construction crews. Body Relief Day Spa currently has four treatment rooms. The new establishment will have a total of seven rooms, which will allow them to accommodate up to 10 guests at a time.
The spa will also be adding a sauna and steam room to its facilities, which will be co-ed. There will be locker rooms and showers. Additionally, an organic smoothie bar will be available for guests.
“We hope that even if we can’t accommodate a guest with a service, they can still come in and use the sauna and steam room, or have a smoothie,” said Alyssa Dawkins.
Ten more professionals will be added to the staff to help with the expansion process.
Body Relief Day Spa offers a variety of services, including massage and body work. Guests can choose from standard Swedish massage or partake in different forms of body therapy, such as cupping, reflexology, and hot stone therapy. Within the massage department there is an array of body treatments, such as mud wraps or a coconut sugar scrubs.
The spa also has a skin care department that offers a variety of facials and waxing treatments for clients. The staff uses Eminence, an organic line of skin care products. They are made from raw fruits and vegetables.
For example, guests can enjoy a yam and pumpkin enzyme peel, or an arctic berry enzyme peel.
Also at the spa is a nail department that offers manicures, gel manicures, and pedicures. The nail salon uses all natural products.
The spa offers a full line of retail products to for customers, including a line of essential oils called Botanical Aromatics, which the Dawkins themselves created.
Current hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays. For more information, visit bodyreliefdayspa.com or call 792-6196.
