From the mundane to the other-worldly, Balanced Holistic Studio offers a variety of services for the health of mind, body and spirit at two locations in Glens Falls.
In December, Balanced opened a second location at the Bella Ridge Salon at 147 Ridge Road. That facility offers traditional massage therapy, with therapist Linda Westlake, three days a week.
Owner Franky Pocaro has practiced reiki for many years and achieved master teacher status. In October, she opened the first studio location, the Reiki and Spiritual Studio, at 81 McDonald St. in Glens Falls, a converted garage. Reiki is a no-touch energy-transferring therapy. The Balanced website says it can help with a range of ills from depression to kidney stones, from back pain to rashes and skin disorders.
Reiki is the core of the business and the business grew from there. The practice aims to rebalance shakras and energy. Catherine Gordon offers life coaching to help people work toward their goals in a range of areas, from getting themselves organized to working on their resumes. Kim Porcaro, whose day job is as a comptroller at an area business, does aromatherapy some evenings and also keeps the company’s books.
Customer referrals are encouraged. Anyone who refers two clients gets a free session.
The Ridge Street facility also includes a learning center where the Balanced staff will offer classes.
