Ellen Bütz, executive director of the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Council (LARAC), will retire on July 1, the organization said.
“It’s been a joy and a privilege to serve as LARAC’s executive director since 2006. Now I’m ready to explore new opportunities, and spend more time with my family,” said Bütz.
LARAC will hold its 45th June Arts Festival this year.
LARAC’s role is to be a leading entry point to the arts world for artists and the community. It provides exhibits, workshops, lectures, readings, and artists’ demonstrations for the public. Services for artists and arts organizations include: business seminars, one-on-one consultations, gallery and shop exhibition opportunities, arts festivals, and more.
LARAC also provides funding for arts programs in Warren and Washington counties through community arts grants.
According to Dan Burke, Regional President of NBT Bank, “The arts are a driving force for economic development in our region. Ellen Bütz, through her leadership at LARAC and her service on the Business Improvement District Board, has ensured that the arts are recognized as a vital part of the larger business community.”
Sharon Conrick, chairwoman of LARAC’s board of directors, said Bütz “has brought the arts to a more prominent position in our community, and we look forward to conducting a search for the right person to continue to grow LARAC’s role in our region.”
The search committee will be headed by LARAC board member Rene Clements.
LARAC is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to supporting arts and culture throughout Warren, Washington, and Northern Saratoga counties by developing and sponsoring arts activities and services.
LARAC’s renovated carriage house includes Lapham Gallery and the LARAC gift shop. For more information about LARAC, visit www.larac.org.
